Yuxuan Shu is a PhD student in the group. She is working on time series forecasting and AI for health, with a focus on multivariable understanding. Outside of research, Yuxuan enjoys photography and hiking.
George Drayson investigates the long-term behaviour and evolution of LLMs, with a focus on model collapse, continual learning, self-improvement mechanisms, and the role of synthetic data. In his spare time, George is a bit of a petrol head and loves music!
Zahra Solati Dehkordi is a PhD student in the group. Her research interests include the application of machine learning methods to image processing, natural language processing, and healthcare. Her current work focuses on role-playing language agents.
Dr Magnus Ross is a Research Fellow funded by the EPSRC project Digital Health Hub for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). He is interested in forecasting, uncertainty quantification, and probabilistic machine learning in general. Magnus is also working on using machine learning to help combat AMR as part of the Digital Health Hub for AMR. Outside of work he likes to go running, play music, and sit in the sauna.
Jinyu Li is a PhD student in the group. He completed his Master's degree in Advanced Biomedical Imaging at UCL. After this, he worked in Mindray Biomedical Electronics Company's ultrasound image system development department, where he developed machine learning solutions for automatic ultrasound image quality optimisation and human-computer interaction efficiency improvement. His PhD is funded by the tech4health CDT. His current research focuses on multivariate time series forecasting for modelling infectious diseases.
Niels Cariou-Kotlarek is a PhD student in group. He is a PhD fellow in the UCL department of Mathematics funded by the EPSRC. He is interested in stochastic processes, machine learning methods, and financial mathematics. His work primarily explores the use of jump-stochastic processes for simulating and generating financial as well as other related data sets. A key component of his research involves signature feature extraction techniques that allow for the effective representation and analysis of sequential data.
Dr Ruoqing Yin (a.k.a. Rachel) is a research collaborator. She was a PhD student in the group (main supervisor: Prof. Liz Varga). Her research focuses on advancing time series analysis by developing large-scale, city-scale spatiotemporal foundation models that capture complex spatial differences, handle diverse downstream tasks, and adapt to unseen regions for robust forecasting. She aims to turn these innovations into practical products that deliver real-world impact. Outside of research, she enjoys jogging and playing Baldur's Gate.
